From a folding medium format camera that his father used for wedding photography, to 4X5 large format photography, on to a superb Mamiya medium format camera and through numerous digital camera evolutions, he knows cameras and photographic techniques intimately.
But technical knowledge alone is not enough. Photography is in fact an art form. In the brief flicker of a camera shutter, you have to capture a single instant that summarizes long sequences of events, and do it in a way that pulls at the heart strings. A picture is not always equal to a thousand words; when you have only said one word, WOW!, we know we have done our job well. That is our magic.
